You may also access the Town by private vehicle. However, due to the limited amount of public, overnight parking and numerous restrictions on parking and vehicular access during winter storms, it is advised to avoid taking a private car up the canyon to Alta. Parking regulations are strictly enforced. Please see a map of overnight parking areas in Alta, and be aware of nearby parking signage in all parking areas. Utah law requires vehicles on State Route 210 to be equipped with snow tires and chains or 4WD from November through May.
