Garbage & Recycling
New in 2018: the Town of Alta has developed a glass recycling program with Momentum Recycling. Individual homes and businesses can sign up to recieve 35-gallon or 64-gallon carts that Momentum will service monthly. The cost of the program is $8 per 64-gallon cart per month, or $6 per 35-gallon cart per month. Additional fees may apply. For more information on the program, and to sign up, click here to find the glass recycling sign up form, or contact Chris Cawley in the Town of Alta office at 801-742-6010 or Ccawley@townofalta.com. Sign up before December 15th in order to waive a $25 activation fee! For more information on Momentum Recycling and the processes involved in recycling glass, visit Momentum online here.
Due to the exceptional weather and setting of the Town of Alta, many building locations provide unique challenges for garbage removal. The Town does not offer garbage collection as a municipal service. Residents & businesses are required to make private arrangements for removal of their garbage.
The Town of Alta is committed to recycling and since 2007 we have contracted with Wasatch Waste and Recycling to collect our recyclable materials. There are a number of collection bins open 24 hours a day, located on the north side of the main road down canyon from the Fire Station/Community Center building.
Please place the following materials into the bin:
Newspaper Plastics (NOT plastic bags)
Steel cans Cardboard
Cereal boxes Aluminum cans
Tin cans All paper
Milk jugs Soap boxes
Please help us conserve space in the recycling bin by crushing boxes and aluminum cans.
Please DO NOT place the following items in the bin: glass, food, clothing, styrofoam, packing peanuts, wood, lawn clippings or leaves, rubber, carpeting, electronics or hazardous materials.
