Submit Photos for our New Website!

The Town of Alta is excited to announce that we are working on designing and building a brand-new municipal website! We are seeking photography submissions from the community for featured images on the new site. An ideal image will follow the guidelines below:

  • Landscape Orientation
  • High-Resolution
  • Preferred file types: JPEG, JPG, or PNG
  • Non-manipulated imagery will yield the best results – if possible, choose photos without Photoshop effects or cropping
  • Choose images relevant to any season
  • Photos that capture the Town of Alta

Please submit images to molly@townofalta.com by 5:00 PM on Friday, September 13. If your image is selected, we will contact you.

individual ready to help our community and serve with a purpose in a public
safety dispatcher position. Alta Central dispatchers receive non-emergency and emergency calls requesting police, fire, and assistance from the Alta Marshal’s Office. Dispatchers work with multiple agencies, and monitor and operate a variety of telephone, radio, and computer systems. This unique position is perfect for someone who has a flexible schedule and appreciates being in a mountain environment.

MT. SUPERIOR AVALANCHE MITIGATION PROJECT
SUMMER 2024
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) will be commencing work on the Mount Superior Avalanche Mitigation Project on Monday, July 8, 2024. The work is estimated to be completed in October 2024. They will be installing Wyssen Avalanche Towers, a type of Remote Avalanche Control System (RACS) on the Mt. Superior Ridgeline above SR-210.This project will help UDOT transition away from the P-Ridge Howitzer that has been used on the south side of the canyon, shooting over the road and buildings in the Town of Alta.

What to Expect During Construction:

  • Crews working up to 7 days a week, sunrise to sunset. Work will not stop for holidays due to limited construction season.
  • A recreation area closure will be in place for the duration of the project. For your safety and the safety of others, please respect all closures. Click here for a map of the installation/closure area. 
  • Intermittent road closures may occur throughout the project on SR-210 between Snowbird Entry 4 and the top of the Bypass Road (the “mainline” section).
  • Noise impacts are likely as helicopters will be flying in the area daily.

43rd Annual LCC Clean Up Day

43rd ANNUAL LCC CLEAN UP DAY

The 43rd Annual LCC Clean Up Day is going to take place on Tuesday, June 11! This community event is a collaboration between the Town of Alta, Snowbird, and UDOT to clean litter from HWY 210 to help keep LCC beautiful.

Participation is limited to residents and employees in the Town of Alta and Snowbird and their families. The minimum age for volunteers is 14 years old. Registration is required for each participant.

Extended Post Office Hours

The Alta Contract Post Office will be open for an extra hour from December 15 – January 15. The operating hours during this time will be 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM!

The Town of Alta is excited to partner with Alta Community Enrichment and Volunteers of America to collect donations for those in need this winter.

Donations will be accepted continually through December 15 at the Alta Post Office and we will also be accepting items during the ACE Gear Swap on December 1st and 2nd.

Office Closure – 10/25/2023

The Town Office will be closing early tomorrow, Wednesday, October 25 starting at 12:00 PM noon for a planned power outage to allow us to finish the installation of our new generator.

We anticipate that Alta Central communications will remain online during this time and no other businesses or residences in Town should be affected.
