Governor Gary Herbert issued an executive order on November 8th applying new restrictions across the State of Utah as COVID-19 transmission surges, threatening the Utah health care system and public health and safety for all Utahns. The order enacts the following restrictions.

-The entire state is under a mask mandate.
-Limit casual social gatherings to household-only until November 23, 2020.
-Put all youth and high school extracurricular activities, including athletic and intramural events, on hold for the duration of the order.
-Require students enrolled at public and private colleges and universities, who either live on campus or attend at least one in-person class per week, to be tested for COVID-19 weekly.

On Tuesday October 13, Utah Governor Gary Herbert announced a new framework of public health guidelines and restrictions intended to curtail the spread of COVID-19. This new approach replaces the previous “color-coded” phased guidelines, and it applies restrictions on a county-by-county basis based upon new case rates, test positivity rates, and ICU utiliziation. The new restrictions went into effect today for individuals and will be in effect October 18th for businesses

Join the Town of Alta and Ennead Architects for a virtual public meeting on October 15th from 5:00-7:00 PM to learn about progress toward a vision, program, and preliminary design concepts for the future Town of Alta Community Center. On Saturday, October 3rd, an Alta Post Office employee notified the Town of Alta they received a positive result from a test for COVID-19. The Town closed the facility immediately and a specialized contractor sanitized the facility on October 4th. Please see this notice to Alta postal customers, which is posted at the Alta Post Office, for more information.

A Stage 1 Fire Restriction is in effect on the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest until further notice. Under the restrictions, fires, campfires, charcoal, coal and wood stoves are allowed only in developed campgrounds. The restrictions also limit smoking to within enclosed vehicles, buildings, in developed campgrounds, or while stopped in an area at least 3 feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of any flammable material. Using a device that is solely fueled by liquid petroleum or LPG fuels that can be turned on and off is allowed in areas that are clear of flammable materials. Further restrictions may be applied as conditions change.

The Unified Fire Authority (UFA) Wildland Fire Fuels Crew will be in Alta the week of August 10th to provide the services of a woodchipper to process piles of excess wildfire fuels collected from properties in Alta. Property owners must notify Chris Cawley at Ccawley@townofalta.com that they will have a pile for chipping, and the pile must be ready for chipping by 7 AM on Monday August 10th.
