Alta is part of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest, and is bordered by the Lone Peak Wilderness and the Twin Peaks Wilderness Area. The Lone Peak was the first designated Wilderness area in the State of Utah. The Town of Alta has many trailheads that access these areas. Locations can be found on our Summer Hiking Map.
